The Mystery Called

South Africa

South Africa is a country of exotic foods and exotic lives. The coexistence of humans and the animals, the herbivores and the carnivores with the dangerous omnivores that we are is simply unmatched to any other part of the world. There are probably a very few places on earth where the nature’s ecosystem is so majestically visible. The man and the man-eater both live here.

Ecosystem and the South African Barbeque

Well, there is an old saying that goes like this –I dine on you now, and let you dine on me some day. That is an awful line I must say, awful but interesting, and do not ask since I am not sure where I picked it up from.Nevertheless, when we mention the Spitbraai Cape Town, the saying seems so much relevant. After all, it is Africa we are talking of, the lion or tiger can take me as a dinner, and if not, then I feast on a menu from Spitbraai Hire.

Cape Town and its cuisine

The varied multi-cultural ancestry of the city has enjoyed a lot many traditions in cooking –Malaysian, Italian, Moroccan, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, French, Brazilian, and the list go on. The very traditional and very Cape Townish –Spitbraai Cape Town however, never loses its flavor to satisfy the taste buds and interest of millions visiting the city every year. Moreover, with a classic South African Spitbraai Hire, the concept of a traditional African barbecue just gets better.

Well that said; let us peep in a little on the different cuisines the city has to offer from all over the world.

Cape Malay

This cuisine as we know of today had gone through a lot of modifications from its original roots when it got introduced by the slaves from the Middle East and got transported to the city of Cape Town by the Dutchmen. It is traditionally a spicy dish but can turn sweetish with choice. The cuisine includes Sambals, curries, pickled fish, a wide variety of stews from fish, skewered meat called Sosaties, egg-based topping of baked minced meat called Bobotie.

Seafood

The Cape is a city encircled by oceans and is thus blessed by abundant supply of seafood.Manyof the eateries have a Mediterraneancuisine, sometimes with a hint of Cape, Portuguese, or Malay influence. The popular foods are mussels, prawn, oysters, a game-fish maybe that is typically barbecued or commonly braaied or smoked.

Afrikaans

The cuisine of foods that are most common in the Afrikaner are the Dutch,, with slices of contribution from the German and French immigrants, along with the present populace of Cape Malay. In the top of the list, we have our well-known braai, and then the sausage locally named Boerewors, a meat or maybe a vegetable stew as per choice cooked on a pot of cast iron.

African

This cuisine has long held itself close to the ground, to farming -maize and corn. Every community in Africa has their own separate recipes and methods to eat, with an exception of some dishes that are approved by all the tribes.

Summing it up: The fantastic city of Cape Town is not only a visual treat to travelers, but promises to entice your taste buds as well. You can always keep the magic on a bit with the famous Cape Town barbecue–the Spitbraai Cape Town, in between your travel trips.
